Every now and again I have to go on a course. Normally its a software course.
The reason is I'm a trader and not a software guy.
Lets look at the difference between 1-2-1 training and a course.
The main thing is a course tells you whilst 1-2-1 shows you.
First of all I know that on a course there will be some people better than me
and some people worse. So some of the time I'm waiting while an easy thing is
being explained and I'm getting bored. Other times I'm still writing and coming
to grips with something and we've moved on because the instructor is going with
the flow of the people who are quicker. Either way the course is not being directed
at me but by the fastest and slowest in the group.
Then we get the questions. Inane questions that mean nothing to me but everything
to someone else.
Finally when I've just got to grips with the last item, the group are half way
through the next and I'm struggling to play catch up. So I say "Excuse me could
you just go through that first part again/" A quick few words and the instructor
is off again directing things to his favourite people. So I think I didn't get
that so I'll drop that bit and pick up with everyone when the next bit is started.
You see how I'm just the guy in the middle.
The instructor on the other hand is playing his own game. He has to make sure
the course moves on. He has a time schedule and the next break to worry about.
He has his own job to do which is not so much about me but about making sure everything
moves along smoothly. At some stages he'll naturally speed up to catch up with
his timing, meaning I'll have to speed up as well. There is nothing wrong in all
this but its just the way a course flows.
In my head I'm saying forget about slow coach Freddie and that idiot that aks
all those soppy questions.. Forget about the geek in the front row that goes
to bed with his software books. Forget about the person at the back from your
company telling you its ten mins before lunch is coming. Come and sit down next
to me and show me at my speed just what is occurring and what I should do next.
What do I need? 1-2-1 tuition.
Away from trading I like photography. I've got a new camera. I've been through
the instruction book and got a lot of things but there are some things that allude
me.There are so many menus and sub menus with switches and buttons it's like a
maze sometimes.
Luckily I was at my favourite camera place yesterday and there was an all day
show going on with all the experts there. The Nikon woman was there with every
Nikon camera and every lens. At one stage she was talking with a small group of
people who were mentioning inane topics that I wasn't interested in. Then I managed
to grab her and said "I want to know how you do this that and the other on this camera
with that lens?"
"Certainly" she said and she showed me at my pace everything that needed to be
done. Then she handed the camera to me, let me go through all the menus, set
it up and shoot, if I hesitated she was by my side to jog my memory. "Fantastic"
I said "Let me just do that one more time". So she stood there whilst I went though
it again. Great I've got it. Thank you
All that time with the instruction book I'd got no where what I needed was
just someone to point me in the right direction at my speed and just answer any
questions that were just holding me back.
What had I just had? 1-2-1 tuition.
1-2-1 tuition helps people understand and trade the markets correctly. It doesn't
pay big companies to do it but it will pay you to learn that way. E mail me at
alanrichtrading@aol.com and let me know your 1-2-1 trading requierments. |
